When I got this book, I should have looked at it more closely. I would have returned it. This is money you can save. In my opinion, some of the examples used in the book are not strong examples of resumes. There is nothing new about some of the suggestion. For example, " lead with strong verbs." " Be specific' You can find these suggestions on any career website. There were no examples of cover letters or letters of interest.If you decide to order this book, I suggest you use Amazon Prime and order another guide at the same time. Compare the two. That way you can make your own decision and send back the one you don't want.The lesson that I have learned is to always review your orders carefully, within the 30 days that Prime gives you to return it. That is the most important piece of information that I have gotten from this experience.
I had last revised my resume about ten years ago... evidently resume fads and trends change quite frequently because mine needed a major overhaul. In the eighteen months or so since I implemented this book's advice, I've definitely gotten more contacts and interviews. If you're an experienced job seek age forty or over, you will find this book particularly helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEDED.
This is a great book and I really like the layout of the book with short chapters but full of information. The book has lots of resume examples to use when building your own resume. I gave this book four stars because I think it missed the boat by not giving your downloadable and editable layout templates.
My resume needed an overhaul. A friend recommended Knock 'Em Dead, but having used that book many years ago, I was wanting something else. Modernize Your Resume delivered. With lots of examples and context, this book helped me update my decade old resume.
Wonderful book; I keep up to date on resume trends and this book ties together all of the latest information in a very easy to read book. The examples are exceptionally helpful as well. This is a "must have" resource for anybody wanting their update to make it through today's ATS systems.
